sketchwalk at eunos

Was experimenting with coloured pencils, ink and ballpoint (all together). I made some of them too heavy as you can see. But I liked the textures.

SKETCHWALK

Join us, Urbansketchers and OIC, for our next sketchwalk happening this saturday morning. The location this time will be the Eunos Industrial Estate, located just beside the Singapore Post Centre. This area is rich with workshops specialising in metal works, timber, furniture, automobile repair and spray painting, all lined up one after the other. There will be much to draw. Please take extreme caution: Choose safe spots to sketch and always keep a lookout for forklifts and trucks in this busy area.

Directions: Get down at Paya Lebar Stn. Follow the dotted lines to the food center marked out in red. Meet at the food center at 9.30am. From there we may spread out in all directions, covering the estate at our own leisure. We will return back to the same food center by 12.30pm. The building marked out in pink is rather interesting too if you have time to explore it.

For more information, contact Tia at 96968080 and Andrew at 91070735. See you there!

blood donation

I'm afraid of blood donations. That's why it's not me in the picture giving blood. It's my friend Daniel Chiam at NUH letting them suck out his o+ blood while I sat there and drew. He was brave. Perhaps I'd do it another day. Apparently, his was the shorter procedure since it was his first time. It took only a few minutes. The longer donation procedure would take your blood, remove its platelets, and then put it back into your body. That would take 45mins.

SOZO cafe at Ridgewood

This is cafe I'd eat at almost everyday. It's the cafe at the Ridgewood Condo's clubhouse. It is run by one cook whom I call "1 chef". He makes great mee goreng, teriyaki chicken, mongolian chicken, fried rice, and chicken wings with secret spices. If you got to know him better, he'd make you dishes not on the menu, like his special curry chicken, and curry fish head. From talking to him, I learned that he used to work at a japanese restaurant at Liang Court's basement and he comes from an area of Malaysia with good food. I think Sozo is an unassuming and often underestimated eatery because it's within a condo's compound. I don't live there any more, but I'd still drop by now and then to try food from a good eatery that will not be there forever. (ps. "Sozo" is a greek word found in the bible which means "to save".)
