Hawker Centres

Old black Kuretake calligraphy marker + wash.

I drew this while standing in the long queue for a plate of fried kway teow. The cook at this stall at Ghim Moh hawker centre was once crowned the fried kway teow king on one of the tv channels. I got this from looking at the photos pasted on this stall front. His Fried kway teow is more of the wet kind. While drawing this, I could hear a man behind me whispering to an elderly lady, "he's an artist." I pretended not to hear and kept drawing. Ballpoint + Kuretake calligraphy marker

from the october sketchbook

Climbed Bukit Timah Hill with Von. Then went to eat thai food at Beauty World. Found an old stationary store at the basement that sold old stationary. I bought old stencils.

Church overflow room at Marina Bay Sands. I know the Pastor Lian here looks like a crazy woman. But she really isn't. Watercolour + Kuretake brush pen.

I watch the channel 8 taiwanese serial with Von's parents every sunday night. I don't usually watch chinese tv series. But it can be rather good! It has about 500 episodes though. Yes, 500 or more. watercolour + Noodler's ahab.

Cafe Wok Inn, fish n chips stall.

I had lunch here today. My uncle serves traditional english fish and chips (eaten with malt vinegar) at a small coffeeshop in Toa Payoh. He lived the the UK for many many years. Then Greece, for 10 years, where he first opened his fish and chips business. He has a strong english accent. And it can be a long wait for fish and chips during work lunch hours so it's best to go earlier or later. Take note that it has moved to this new location in Toa Payoh. http://ieatishootipost.sg/2011/05/wok-inn-fish-and-chips-best-value-for.html

mid-autumn festival

Been extremely busy the last few weeks finishing the graphic novel.
It's almost done. And it will be out in Nov. Finally, I have time to scan these drawings from the last sketchwalk during the mid-autumn festival in Chinatown.
