holland village food centre sketches
Watercolour on paper in a small A6 sketchbook. I’ve been slacking when it comes to outdoor sketching. So it was nice taking the opportunity to do some night sketching at a food centre with my friend, Roger. It also gave me a good chance to use up all the watercolour paint I have in various portable containers and not used in ages!
In these sketches, I did the lines with watercolour but using the Kakimori nib. Then I used a brush to apply the watercolours with a travel brush.
Later, as fatigue set in, complicated scenes just looked like too much work. So I switched to another technique. I did the washes first. Then added the watercolour lines with the Kakimori nib. That made it quick and also different.
