sketches at meal times and waiting times

These were done very quickly. 3-5mins each? Capturing just simple shapes of the objects helped speed things up. A technique learnt from a fashion illustration book.

Learning to capture things in just a few shapes.

Uni Laknock 1.4 pen + photoshop.
I like this Lacknock ballpoint pen because it has line variation depending on pressure.
It can achieve a nice thin (with pencil-like texture) when pressed gently and can go pretty thick when pressed harder. It's pretty smooth too. The 1.4 is the thickest version of this pen. I seem to like thick ballpoint pens now. The thicker, the better for line variation (for some ballpoints.) It's sold at some simple stationary stores. Not at Art Friend though. I don't get paid by Uni btw haha. I just like pens.

wibble wibble sketchbook1

I recently launched a new hand-made book called WIBBLEWIBBLE. It is the first in a series. The WIBBLEWIBBLE series will compile the better illustrations and sketches from this blog. Each book will revolve around a theme. In this first book, the theme is "creatures and people from another world." That means, I only include drawings from my imagination (and not from real-life observations.) I've also written a few pages about my thoughts on my drawing as well as about the various art tools I use. 44 pages + cover. Good paper. Good black and white printing. There are only a handful of them at Woods In The Books at Millenia Walk (beside Suntec City) in Singapore. And it's priced at $9 each. Please take a look and buy if you like it:)

I managed to do a small not so great video of it. I don't know how to make it bigger.
(I'm not good with videos)

another one of those strange comics to test out a pencil I've not used in awhile. Pencil + photoshop. I do like this look.

I went back to Queenstown yesterday. The hawker center has been totally demolished. In its place is a big green field. But the iconic block 38 building is still standing. Aristo 0.7 mechanical pencil + photoshop. I really like this new mechanical pencil from Art Friend. The weight and grip feels just right for drawing. Much better than my other mechanical pencils. Yep I bought a new art tool again...

testing pens

This comic was done to test my vintage waterman EF from Greg. And also my new blue col-erase pencil for the pencilling (which you can't see). Using a lightbox can be rather glaring. plus it's rather fun drawing on the same paper as the pencilling.
