Coloring comics in a different way

I like doing things different from time to time. And it's not to get more views. (Not that I don't appreciate more views.) I just like surprising myself, shaking things up so I'm always learning something new. Here I coloured these two comics slight differently from how I normally do it.
In this first one, the lines are pen lines, and I coloured it digitally. But not in the usual way. I thought of the colours as in different layers and as transparent coloured sticker sheets. So when they overlay each other, they would create a bit of an overlap. And I used a mouse to "cut out" the shapes of the colours. Using a mouse vs a tablet gives me less control and more blockish shapes.

In the diary entry below, I did the lines with pen (non-waterproof ink) and the colours with acrylic paints. And I put it together digitally. (Can you tell?) This allows me to have those nice textures that acrylic paints give. Also, having the colours on a different sheet of paper makes it less scary to colour with natural media. If I mess up colouring a panel, I'm able to colour that panel again without ruining the lines. It's a slightly troublesome technique but it can be a useful one if you want to do something that looks completely natural media, yet want to be able to edit thing easily. I cover the process in my video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0nP5LT-pT8
