Year-end vacation sketches
I don't travel much so it was nice to get out of my neighborhood for a change and see what the rest of the world looks like. Well, maybe just Japan. I've been to Tokyo and Kyoto quite a number of times already. So this time, we decided to travel to Shikoku with another family that was more familiar with the place. I didn't feel like doing any serious recording in drawing form like I normally do. With two young kids, it's hard to just stop and spend time sketching. And I didn't want to think about illustration work for awhile. Still, I ended up with this bunch of sketches and comics relating to the vacation.
This comic here was done today. I'm planning a diary comic workshop for this weekend and needed an example to show the students. The frames for this were all done separately. I put everything together in photoshop. Drawn with a mangaka marker and color pencils. It does provide more details from the trip which I didn't cover in my sketches. In just 13 days of vacation, there is so much that happens.
The sketches below were done during the trip.
This last one below was done after I returned and it's loosely based on my experiences in Japan. I call it an afterglow comic. I give a tour of the sketches in my YouTube video HERE.
Anyways, in case I'm too busy to post till next year, Merry Christmas, dear reader!
