Producing a care-free, spontaneous comic

Having so much busy stuff going on all the time can mean less time as well as less energy for art. But does that mean my quality of art has to suffer?

For this comic, I realised that I've produced it amidst all the constraints I have. With less time and energy for art, I had keep things simpler and more to the point. When it came to colouring on another day, I didn't want to spend energy setting up my Wacom tablet to my desktop computer. So I decided to just use my computer mouse to lasso shapes and apply them in multiplied layers in Photoshop. I feel the "clunkiness" of using a mouse caused the shapes to look a lot simpler than if I had more control. And with only a limited time, I decided to only use 2 colours, which forced me to be more creative with how I'd combine yellow and blue, with the white paper to get the range of colours you see here. If I had more time or energy to spend on this, I might have made it too detailed, or done it too carefully. Here, I do enjoy that quick spontaneous, care-free feel the lines and colours have here. Perhaps having constraints on my time and energy is a factor in producing such comics?
