"Shapes first. Lines later." technique

 


I did a video highlighting the "Shapes first, lines later" technique. It's something that watercolour artists or urban sketchers would use to nail down an image quick and loose. (You've also seen me do this in the Kakimori nib review). I applied it to this comic and it helped me nail down complicated poses and details quicker than if I'd tried to perfect the lines first, then added the shapes of colour after.
